The Unexpected

So I was really big into Felix the Cat when I was in High School to the point where I was getting on everyone's nerves about it like I am with Bunnicula right now even though there's not really much substance to it? I dunno but I love the charm of some of the old 1920's black and white cartoons and Felix was one I ended up growing really attached to.

My favorite adaptation of Felix however is the 90's 'Twisted Tales of Felix the Cat' series that had elements of his 20's self but with it's own flair that didn't give Felix that annoying knock-off Mickey Mouse voice from his 50's adaptation. Pretty good stuff.

On the subject of the picture, this is another old pairing of mine that I drew a bit on break. Felix and his nerdy science friend Poindexter, who of course has to be the nephew of Felix's number 1 enemy making things complicated. But rather than drawing Poindexter with his original design, I wanted to try a different look he had from a Felix cartoon that never happened.
